KiT Ensemble is a dance company founded by Grégory Chevalier in Budapest. Grégory's work continues in Vienna. He teaches the art of contact improvisation in a sensitive way and with ‘embodied intelligence’ and brings it on stage together with the dancers. The audience is also invited and integrated into the dance.
It is a pleasure for me to be part of the project and to deal with the musical aspects of improvisation and performance. My personal ideas always seem to be welcome.
Isn’t dance simply about joy and feeling alive in the present moment? Perceiving sensing as a ultimate source, a prayer towards life, our dancing body is an art piece itself, and its natural skillfulness overtakes any technique.
KiT Vienna was founded in 2023 - a one-year training program with a total of 3 performances. The pieces with the title Oceanhands were musically accompanied by me. 2024 a second round started. The performances are titled Earthing.

The exploration of the Oceanhand theme allowed me to immerse myself deeply in the sounds of the sea, the water and the flowing qualities.
In the first part the quality of the water is expressed.
The second part is characterised by dynamics and influences the movement of the dancers.
Earthing is a musical exploration of the sound of the earth, of depth, of statics. It is like sensing the root of our being, from which we draw strength.
In the first part, the dancers should feel or experience the connection to the earth with their weight. The musical idea is based on the note G#, the tonal equivalent of the earth's natural vibration.
“This is the first part of our performance called “Earthing” I invite you to put one of your hands in your palm. Feel the weight of your hand in your palm, let your hand slowly give its weight, how slowly its texture, tone changes…
Do you feel your other hand, your palm receiving the weight? How does the tone of your hand change?
This is what we will do during our performance with the floor, with Earth, giving our weight and receiving the weight of the earth.
I invite you to look at our weight, how we touch and we are touched by the Earth.

The second part is connected with getting in motion, with spring and the discovery of being.
“The ground now is fertile, the seeds are planted, we can contemplate our work, spring starts, and we can take care of our garden, bring others, enjoy the beauty of being together!”
